Sanliurfa is a province (il) located in southeastern Turkey. The provincial capital is also called Sanliurfa, which is a historic city believed to be the birthplace of Abraham in Islamic tradition. The province is known for its unique cuisine, religious sites, and cultural heritage. The local economy relies on agriculture, especially cotton, wheat, and pistachios, as well as industrial production, including textiles, leather goods, and electrical appliances. Sanliurfa is also home to several universities, including Harran University, and attracts many visitors for its historical and natural attractions, such as the ancient city of Urfa, the Balikli Göl (pool of sacred fish), and the Harran ruins.
